You may have heard a lot about pimping out your car, but how about your boat? Have you considered making it into the most stylish watercraft it can be? The following are some things you might want to install in your boat to make it into a remarkable ride that no one will forget.

One thing you can start with when pimping out your boat is the furnishings. There is modern furniture of all kinds that can be used below decks in a boat to turn it from something ordinary and prosaic into a masterpiece of <a href="http://www.nauticexpo.com/cat/comfort-on-board-air-conditioning-toilets-furniture-for-boats/bedding-furnishings-for-boats-XA-997.html"rel="nofollow" target="_blank" >marine décor that will impress anyone. If you own only a small or midsized motor boat with no interior space, consider replacement boat seats and other on-deck items. Also keep in mind that furnishings include things like window dressings, artwork, and rugs, all of which can be modern looking or in any style you want.

Another whole area to consider is entertainment. You want to put some stunning and impressive entertainment systems in the boat as an activity as you cruise the high seas. Stereo sound is a great start. This can often be integrated with the television system into an overall package that offers great sound and video quality. Consider getting subwoofers and high quality satellite speakers that can be connected to the receiver or amplifier for both the television system and the CD/mp3 player. Again, these are often combined in one unit, so to save space and avoid having too many components, look for receivers that can play CDs and the radio along with DVD and satellite broadcasts.

The highest level of boat entertainment and class is onboard satellite television. For the actual television set itself you should consider high definition ready sets such as plasma and LED flatscreens. As far as the broadcast goes, you might think about getting satellite service channels such as DirecTV. With DirecTv Sunday Ticket, you can enjoy NFL action even when you're out on the water! Try mounting the TV on a sharp looking entertainment center if there is room for one and it can be stabilized well. Often a good idea is to mount a TV monitor on the wall. This will help stabilize it in case of rolling waves. Other components like DVD players and receivers can be put on shelves of desks or other furniture that attaches to the wall, again for good stability. Computer functionality can be combined with all this as well, by using a desktop or laptop model and sending its signal to your wall-mounted flat screen. It is always a good idea to save space on a boat, so, wherever possible, go for integration of this sort.

You can make your boat more enjoyable by installing equipment for other more physical types of activities and fun. You could, for instance, install a fold out diving board or a water slide on deck. When the boat is at anchor, these can be a lot of fun. Jump into the ocean for a swim in high style. Kids and adults alike will love these sorts of water play items.

Our goal is to ensure a sustainable future for our forests-and the clean air and water they provide.

Our “Search For Solutions” is more than just a slogan, it’s our mission, and through conservation action and education, we’re succeeding.

You want to help because You love trees and forests-but you’re probably a little confused.

Voices on one side say we should never disturb a forest’s natural state, while voices on the other side insist that we need more timber to harvest. While the conflicts continue, the forests suffer. Yet amidst all the confusion there are answers.

For almost 120 years-since 1875-AMERICAN FORESTS has spoken for the trees and the forests of this magnificent land. We’re over 100,000 strong, and our nationwide programs are leading the movement to protect America’s forests.

Maybe you’ve never heard of us. We don’t spend our money on flashy marketing schemes, and we don’t make the headlines with outlandish claims based on fear. We put our money and our efforts where we have since 1875-in conservation action, education, and the search for solutions.

The 21st century is right around the corner. AMERICAN FORESTS is working hard to ensure that our forests continue to provide clean air, unpolluted water, and healthy ecosystems for people and wildlife. Join us.

. . .PROTECTS CLEAN WATER
By helping to plant millions of trees in rural and urban areas, AMERICAN FORESTS is increasing soil stability and productivity all across the country. More stable soil results in less erosion and runoff. Subsequently a cleaner, clearer water supply emerges, providing a healthier ecosystem for wildlife and people.

. . .PLANTS TREES
Thirty Global ReLeaf ecosystem restoration projects exist nationwide, accounting for nearly two million trees; hundreds more are in the works. Restoring dam aged forest ecosystems to their original levels of diversity benefits both wildlife and people.

. ..PROMOTES EDUCATION ACROSS AMERICA AMERICAN FORESTS’
educational programs are increasing awareness in schools. Living Classrooms help teach history, science, and conservation ethics while providing tree-planting opportunities for children.

. . .CLEANS OUR AIR
Our innovative Cool Communities program minimizes the polluted, “heat island” effect in our cities and increases energy efficiency through strategic tree planting and light-color resurfacing of heat-absorbent structures.

. . .WORKS FOR YOUR COMMUNITY
The Global ReLeaf Fund for City Trees has provided more than $2.5 million in tree-planting grants to communities like yours. Planting trees makes communities more beautiful and healthier by providing cleaner air and water.

WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT US: “AMERICAN FORESTS’ Famous & Historic Tree program is a wonderful way to involve people in environmental improvement and educate the public about the prestigious history of our nation.”
-Former President Jimmy Carter

‘AMERICAN FORESTS book Growing Greener Cities should be in every place where children can read. We must teach children better ways of doing things ”
-Singer Graham Nash

“Its urban forest conferences, its citizen forestry support group, its Global ReLeaf and Cool Communities programs, and its Global ReLeaf Fund have made AMERICAN FORESTS the world’s leader in urban forestry.”
-Rep. Bruce Vento, chairman, House Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests, and Public Lands

“AMERICAN FORESTS is made up of-people who understand the value of healing the environment, and its programs reflect ingenuity, initiative, and concern.”

In January 1983, a group of conservationists, who were concerned about the dwindling waterfowl populations in America, formed the National Waterfowl Alliance, Waterfowl U.S.A. Limited as a national, non-profit, conservation organization. Since that time, the organization has become known simply as Waterfowl USA. Waterfowl U.S.A. is the only national, non-profit, conservation organization, dedicated to using funds in the areas in which they are raised for local and state waterfowl projects.

It was founded by biologists for the purpose of preserving and improving wintering and breeding habitat within the United States. There was, and still is, a tremendous need to fund waterfowl projects on the local level. Therefore, local and state fund-raising chapters are being organized to lead the way in restoring waterfowl enjoyment. Waterfowl U.S.A. was incorporated in Edgefield, South Carolina in January 1983 as a fully tax deductible, non-profit organization and approved under IRS statute 501 (C)(3). Since its founding, over 45,000 conservationists from all 50 states and many foreign countries have joined and supported Waterfowl U.S.A.

What are Waterfowl U.S.A.’s goals and objectives?

The long term goals and objectives of Waterfowl U.S.A. are: to create interest and organize local groups of concerned sportsmen and bird enthusiasts dedicated to preserving and improving the remaining wetland waterfowl habitat within the United States; to educate the public to the necessity of the preservation of waterfowl and waterfowl habitat in the United States; and to train our youth in good conservation practices.

What are some of Waterfowl U.S.A.’s projects?

Building drawn-down impoundments in critical wintering areas

Building additional wetlands

Repairing broken dikes and water control structures

Providing critical nesting habitat

Planting feeding areas for waterfowl

Developing educational youth programs

Working with Boy Scouts to erect nesting boxes in a national wood duck box program

Developing resident flocks of ducks and geese

Funded waterfowl banding and radio telemetry projects

How will the chapter funds that are raised be used?

60% of the net profits from fund raising, not including Waterfowl USA memberships, will go into your local area and into your state, 20% will be used to develop additional chapters in your state and the remaining 20% will be allotted for National administration costs.

Who will control the funds raised?

A finance committee made up of members from your chapter will control the funds. They will delegate funds for projects from National Headquarters from the monies raised through events held by your chapter.

How will the projects be selected?

It will be entirely up to your chapter or state committee to determine the most worthwhile projects for which your net proceeds will be spent. The chapter will make their own decisions unless they request assistance from National, where by a representative will be available for help on any problem that might arise.

At NOLS, the wilderness is our classroom. Since its founding in 1965 by mountaineer Paul Petzoldt, NOLS has graduated more than 30,000 students. Each year, more than 2,200 students complete NOLS courses, which are run as 14 to 95-day wilderness expeditions.

The international headquarters of NOLS are in Lander, Wyoming. Branch schools are located in the Rocky Mountains (Wyoming), Alaska, the Pacific Northwest (Washington), the Southwest (Arizona), Kenya, British Columbia, Mexico and Patagonia (Chile). In the U.S., NOLS courses are run in 18 national forests, 21 national parks and on Bureau of Land Management land in seven states for a total of over 100,000 user days a year. Internationally, we operate in 14 national parks and preserves.

Masters of Leave No Trace Training Course NOLS, recognized for years as the pioneer of minimum-impact camping, was asked by federal land managers to develop curriculum and provide training for the fledgling Leave No Trace Program. The result is the Master of Leave No Trace Training Course-a five-day backcountry trip led by NOLS instructors and an agency “host.” Participants are federal agency personnel, outdoor educators and leaders from major backcountry user groups. Participants discuss and practice minimum-impact camping skills, wilderness teaching techniques and wildland ethics. Graduates of the course, or “Masters”, take the information and materials presented by NOLS and use it to teach both their colleagues and the public.

Over 300 Masters Course alumni are already teaching minimum-impact camping techniques and ethics to thousands of wildland users around the world. After their course, NOLS networks with Masters through a newsletter, published three times per year, to provide curriculum updates and facilitate educational efforts.

In 1996 we are offering 18 Masters Courses across North America, addressing region-specific techniques appropriate for hiking, river running, canoeing, sea kayaking and horsepacking. Courses will be held in Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, Arizona, Utah, California, Washington, Alaska, North Carolina, Michigan, Minnesota, Virginia and Maine. Please call the NOLS Leave No Trace office in Wyoming (800-332-4100) for more course information and dates.

Target Regions Since appropriate camp and travel practices vary somewhat based on local ecology and the type of activity undertaken, we have identified twelve Target Regions, listed below, for which we are developing LNT materials and Master of Leave No Trace courses. As of Summer 1995, the LNT office has produced informational materials for nine of the twelve regions.

In addition, Club members are on the front line, countering threats to human health and the global environment such as toxic waste disposal, deforestation and global warming.

No other group rivals our grassroots ability to get things done… to save our planet and preserve our natural heritage through successful education, lobbying and litigation efforts.

It is the Sierra Club that helped save Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge from big oil companies. Strengthened the Clean Air Act and improved protection against acid rain and urban air pollution. And helped establish our National Park and Wilderness Preservation Systems, safeguarding over 132 million acres of public land.
